These ideas are aimed at younger groups.
- Discuss with the group how long each person spends playing outside each week. Are you surprised by this amount? Do they wish they could play out more, have more space? Why do they not play outside more? Do they feel restricted? Why is playing outside boring? Or do they play out often?
- Challenge your group to think of 3 places they could play safely outside, and to see how long they can spend there. Encourage them to meet after school (in groups for safety) in public parks etc where they are allowed to play.
- Look up a number of old-fashioned street games and hold a 'Street Game' evening to try each game. Do they enjoy these games? Are they better than the types they play now [e.g. computer]? Does anyone prefer hopscotch to their Nintendo Wii?
