Multi Ethnic / Multi Faith
1 - Contact a local synagogue/temple/mosque and arrange a picnic or activity day where young people from both religions can meet to discuss their faith and discover about the faith of children from other religions. Although this should not be seen as an 'evangelistic' event, your own young people may benefit from being able to justify their own beliefs and find ways of explaining their own 'pillars of faith'. If you already have good relations with local religious figures this shouldn't be too hard. If not, this could be a challenge to improve cross-faith relations in your area!
2 - Do your young people feel it is important to mix more with and learn from people with other religions and ethnic backgrounds? Do their answers surprise you?
3 - Attempt to draw a 'faith map' together. Using aspects of all the major world religions, link the parallels together. What does Christianity have that is unique? What are the significant differences/similarities? How does this help strengthen your faith? What have you learnt as a group? Present your findings to your church family during a service.
